If moisture is a persistent problem with a vented outdoor tank, you can install a desiccant filter to keep free water out of your fuel.

I get the advantages you see in good old fashioned gasoline. The disadvantages of gasoline are largely political and economical. I know not everybody thinks about those things the way I do. I'm a mechanic and an engineer. I like engineering solutions to a problem much more than political solutions. I can change my fuel lines, I can repair a corroded gas tank float. I can do all of those things much easier than I can't solve disputes in the Middle East or figure out how this country is going to sustain itself economically if we keep spending a billion dollars a day for imported oil. Heaven forbid I whine about my Weed Eater not starting after 6 months in the shed when we have soldiers loosing limbs to IEDs because we don't want some profit with a turbin and a Kalashnikov threatening to slow down our oil supply.

Gasoline may seem better than ethanol simply because our vehicles have not been designed to use the best fuel. Miles per gallon is a meaningless measure when the cost per gallon of the two fuels is different. It may turn out that a 35% blend of ethanol or something in that range is the optimum fuel for performance and mileage. I'd like to see us get there. High octane ethanol may be just the recipe for the next generation of turbo-charged direct injection gasoline engines.

Thanks for letting me share my opinion. I respect that this forum is about trucks and not politics. I'm pleased to recognize that this forum has also become a little bit about truck guys. I'm proud to know all of you and proud to be a truck guy that can fix his own shit. I know most of us don't like change. We like the ways things used to be, and we don't want the government or anybody who thinks they know better to tell us what to do. I respect everyone here, and that's why I bother telling you what I think about renewable fuels.
