I figured it probably would be, much less amperage that way. They use one of those integrated motor/generators, basically a big flywheel/motor/generator assembly that works as a generator but can add a boost and start the engine attached to a small battery pack in the car. Not enough to really drive on.

They've been talking of taking cars to 48V for a while with all these extra electronics in modern vehicles. Like going from 6-12 volts it drops the wire sizes and amperage requirements. Most cars today are pushing 120 amps minimum today, and they want to go more electric stuff in the future (water pumps, etc.)
