I don't believe 4 times. It's basically a polyethylene pipe -- a slightly improved version of the ubiquitous black poly irrigation pipe. My experience with the black poly pipe is that it will take a lot of freezing without breaking, but if it freezes over and over in the same spot, it will eventually stretch out to where it does break. I imagine PEX in a house is the same way. You want to take normal precautions to prevent it from freezing, and if once every 5 or 10 years the furnace quits or you get an extra-cold blizzard, it will probably survive the freeze without breaking. But remember the brass fittings and valves aren't freeze-proof.
