In this lovely state of California, if you are married for less than 10 years, alimony or anything else is only awarded as half the life of the marriage, so we have been married 9 years so she gets 4 1/2 years. The $35,000.00 she took is pretty darned close to the alimony the court would award. Im paying 700 bucks a month to pay that back, and it will take 5 years at 700 a month to pay it back, there ya go, 4 1/2 years of alimony, you got the money, done. Thats considered a lump sum payment to her since she got the 35k.
