It can be a hard balancing act, truly. I really like the old feel also, but if you are not using it for work, or short commutes, then ya end up thinking about how to make it more daily-friendly...and there we go! Only mod on mine so far is the brakes, we will see where the future goes.
I get a kick out of putting people in the cab and seeing if they can figure out the levers! Or how to start it! ;)
