Not at all, there were issues with the 5th gear but, but my understanding is it was only really bad for the really heavy towing guys, there are lots of fixes for the problem though. Biggest issue is the cost, the are popular and that means money.
Wasn't the first cummins using a Getrang? I do like the 5speed though even if you don't want to do 75 mph. My Dakota with the 3.9/NV3500 wants to be in fifth at 45 just puttering around town, really keeps the revs down.
