If you are thinking about welding the casing crack, U-groove out the crack, preheat to 250 degrees to remove oil that has permeated the case, get some 1/8" nickle rod and weld in short welds, peen with a blunt chisel to relieve stress and continue to weld do not weave the bead. Good to go.
Coat the inside with Glyptal sealer.
