My Pop was a medic in the 17th Airborne. They were sent in as part of the relief effort of the 101st.
He would not talk about any of his experiences after they left England except for odds & ends. Stuff like his frozen feet, making fresh eggs in his helmet, and when he relieved a Germany Officer of his Walther one night in a barn.
So if any of that generation are still around, have left photo albums, or diaries preserve them at ALL costs.
We and future generations may never know the sacrifices they endured to preserve our freedoms.
