priming oil pump

This is a continuation of the first start oil discussion. VPW says to submerge the oil pump in oil, turn the shaft to get all the bubbles out, then crank until you see oil pressure on the gauge (I am using a new modern gauge) will the pump stay primed for some days if the engine in not started right away? I plan to do this just before stating but in case I get delayed, do i have to remove the pump and resubmerge in oil?
