They just cut the pedal back some. Hardly worth going in if you are smart enough to put the mat under the pedal.
I guess to be really safe, they can take the pedal off completely and cut a big hole in the mat.
Won't matter much soon. Cars will be completely controlled by computer. Kind of takes the idiot factor (the driver) out of driving.
The new Tesla gets software updates overnight while the car sits in your garage. No physical connection required. It's just out there by itself thinking.
Now, it knows when you are nearing home and opens the garage door. It will also raise the car to clear bumps if you have done that before at a particular spot, say your driveway.
