I did the same thing with my garage. Still makes one hell of a mess outside the plastic, but keeps most of the dust out.
More airflow is better, especially with spraying clear if you do a two-stage, that stuff is nasty and likes to hang in the air.
Make sure you use at least a furnace filter on the fans, I used box fans with the 20" square furnace filters so you're not blowing dust and stuff into the garage. Held them in place with some big rubber bands.
