The lack of the offset out put will be no benefit.
Advantages might be something like straight cut gears are noisey, helicals are not, but they all have helicals.
But disconnecting the 4x4 from the input would be an advantage, if it works that way. But I think the input is always turning lots of extra internals no matter, the 4x4 disconnect is on the front output.
But the center out put means those spinning extras are not under any load. I don't think any various internals make any difference.
