Now that I'm into it more, I can see why my building had a major fire that started in the electrical area sometime long ago. It's a wonder it didn't burn the whole place down. I'm looking at an asbestos-lined wood box that once housed all the meters and fuses for 6 apartments and 10 offices, and every screw-in fuse in the box is 30 amps. Every wire attached to those fuses is 14 gauge. I've even found the overheated wire with all the insulation burned off that probably started the fire. Now I'll unscrew all the fuses and see if there are any Indian-head pennies behind them.
