These things don't bring as much money as you might think. Most of us love old mechanical things, a love which is not shared by many people. Generally, the larger and more unwieldy something it is, the less it is worth to the average person.

That hoist looks especially impractical by today's standards. I wonder how the owner felt about having his car (I know it's a drawing) lifted up by the frame horns. You think the mechanic would have at least passed the chains between the frame horn and springs rather than looping them over the frame horns.

A neighbor of mine has a hoist similar to the Canton hoist, but twice the size.

If I found something like this dirt cheap, I would probably rescue it and donate it to the antique farm and tractor club that has a huge place near San Diego.
