But Buckminster Fuller did follow the design you're talking about. The solar cars tend to do one better and make the underside rounded as well.
Ideas like this make me wonder where we'd be if that design had been persued. Just like how many repetitive motion injuries could have been prevented if the Dvorak keyboard was the current standard. The best ideas in one area don't always survive as they have locations in another or they can't fight off the dominant older idea.
