That's my pet peeve with modern car designs. The doors are huge conglomerations of junk, with mere slits of windows at the top. All that junk is for safety (strength and air bags). I've never driven one of those cars yet, but it must make you feel like a you're driving a tank. I'll take visibility over protection any day, myself. Plus, all that junk is just dead weight you have to spend fuel schlepping around.
