I just (sort of) suggested swapping the VIN plates because they are held on with screws on the old FFPW and are sort of interchangeable. When you start riveting on VIN plates, you are asking for trouble, especially on a later vehicle. If not for you, maybe somebody down the road.
I know there is not a substantive difference in the process, but one is way more likely to get you in trouble and end up with your vehicle impounded.
Nobody is likely to be able to say that a particular cab didn't come with a particular VIN plate (model year differences aside), but later model trucks have hidden VIN numbers that need to match up.
