The Dodge has a higher rear end ratio but its not a lot of difference. I think what we are starting to see is engines with so much more power that they can get away with a higher rear ratio to help achieve better MPG. In the old days the power wasn't all that great and they needed low rear end gears to get things moving and or keep transmissions alive and well.
Its gonna be a night and day difference between the old 7.3 and the new Cummins.
