I did it quite a bit on non-winch models. With winch you have to un-spool enough cable to get the crank past the spool. Plus re-bolt the crank support in the right position for use- remove one bolt, losen the other, swing it down, and reoplace that bolt into the other hole. You do have that three-hole + key hole gismo on the front winch support, eh?

Cold, a hand lever on the fuel pump would be a necessity. Or prime the carb with a few drops of gas.

Like kick starting a motorcycle with one quick kick, NOT like winding a hand winch on a boat trailer.

1) Keep thumb NOT wrapped around handle, keep it alongside index finger, along side of hand. This might prevent broken parts in case of a kick back.

2)TRANNY IN NEUTRAL, key OFF, choke set, gas pedal pumped a couple times like usual cold procedure

3)Key still OFF, crank it through a couple turns to intake fuel mix into cylinders. Stop with crank at about about 7:00 position and in contact with a compression stroke.

4) Key on, give it one hard yank upwards. Like kicking a bike, only with your hand. That ought to do. DO NOT try a soft turn, or to get it back to 7:00 with key on, repeat steps 3&4 until successful.
