This is what I found in Arcives;
WC52 is the 3/4-ton, right? The 3/4-ton housing alone will not work, as the gears and other parts in the 3/4-ton are smaller than those in the original Power Wagon PTO. Consequently, the housing is also smaller. I bought one a while back, because the original PTO housing in my '49 cracked, as well. A complete 3/4-ton PTO will mate up with the early Power Wagon tranny, and will work fine, but it has no rear output shaft.

I think Dodge must have beefed up the gear, shaft and bearing sizes for the civilian Power Wagon PTO, because they knew that customers would be running auxiliary equipment off the PTO for extended periods of time. The PTO's in WWII trucks, however, would probably only see comparatively limited use, usually only when pulling a stuck vehicle out of the mud.

So this seems to me that it may work for a winch having the front shaft output only?
