Here is the Calculator I used for figuring the location of my water tank and things on my tender to not over load the axles. Since I was building my tank and using a bare frame I could not just move it around to see if it was right on the axle loads. I was working with about 24,000 lbs 12 ft long on a longer frame. The weight of the truck and weight of the load was under the GVW Rating but if it was in the wrong spot it could not work. I may have needed to make the tank longer, taller, shorter, moved it to the rear, slid it forward etc. Now using this formula you can see what it does on paper not guessing or wondering after you welded it all up and you guessed wrong. This is a automatic add the numbers the computer does it for you chart. Fun to play with locations to see how it changes. I had only 1 foot of room to move my 2,800 gal tank to keep all axles under there rated load. It took me over a day of weighing stuff getting steel weights, water weight per gallon, wheel base, cab, frame measurments etc. to do it with but it works!
