The wheelbase on a 6x6 is measured from the center of the front axle to the center of the trunnion bar. Not the center of the leading rear axle. Take a look at a school bus. There is a long overhang after the rear axle. They engineer it like that to concentrate the payload over the rear axle. Now move the rear axle backward on the school bus and more weight transfers to the front axle. Making it steer heavy and increasing the turning radius.
