Thank you for the bandwith.

I am searching high and low for documentation of 1940 Plymouth pickups being used by the United States military. One of the rumors I have heard is that the Navy purchased some of these trucks.

The truck in question has a fender mounted spare, elevated gas tank, and apparently had something attached over the rear window, as there are four holes (two above, two below). Not sure what led the restorer to believe the truck was part of a military contract, but I would love to hear from anyone that knows anything about the 1940
Plymouth pickups in the US military. Any info will be appreciated, because at this point, I know ZERO!

If there was a fleet purchase, who purchased them? The Army? Navy? Marines?

How many, if any, were purchased?

Many thanks,
