FLAT TIRE TODAY

This morning it took me 1-1/2 hour to get to work in my 53 B3 Power Wagon. I thought it looked like it was leaning before I left, but convinced myself it was just the slight bend in the frame plus it was sitting partly in the ditch. Two miles down the road it was clearly a flat. I had a spare, but no tools. About a minute later a guy from work stopped to help, and brought me home. I put some tools in the bike trailer and rode back to the PW. Didn't even need my cheater bar, and got the tires switched. A neighbor stopped to assist, as did a passing bicyclist. I was fine. Then I realized I can't lift the blown tire into the truck, or onto the spare holder. Another truck full of loggers stops to help. One wants to buy my truck! (He can't afford it). He helps me mount the blown tire. Now I'm all set, except the spare is almost flat. No problem, I have an air tank on board with 120 psi in it. Then I notice the tube is in the spare backwards, jammed up against the brake drum. I can't get the air hose to it. Now my wife stops on her way back home from town. She is across the highway jeering at me, so I get her to help pry and so forth until we get the hose engaged. It's a four-armed operation, but we get about 20 psi in the thing before the air tank is empty. Off I go to the local Les Schwab tire center, (who had mounted my spare with the tube backwards about 7 years ago). I just hope they don't break off my key trying to start the engine. It was a great morning. I got to "play" with my big toy more than usual, and found so many good Samaritans. It is heart warming. What a truck. It brings out the best in everyone. My wife even had fun helping, although she still thinks I'm nuts to have this rig.
