Prior to purchasing my 49 B1PW it made several trips up and down the Alaska Highway from Fairbanks to Southern California, pulling a travel trailer. The previous owner had installed a set of 11:00 x 16 aircraft tires on her. Raised the height about 3" overall. Was able to maintain a decent speed. I remember in 1955 my Dad bought a brand new 55 C3PW in California and pulled a 24' Boles Aero out to Utah where we prospected for uranium. Only problem was constant vapor locking in the desert heat.
I'd say carry some extra fuel, water, supplies and have the trip of a lifetime. The looks you'll get from everyone that passes you will make it worthwhile. At least from the ones that wave with a full set of fingers! Don't forget the water bag to hang off the bumper!
