Drilling holes in brake drums was sometimes done for cooling and weight reduction on ace crs and street rods. I don't understand why you'd want to do it on a PW. The weight reduction is insignificant and I'd be worried about getting mud and dirt into the brakes through the holes when off-roading.

Is there some particular reason for doing this other than weight reduction or cooling?
