I put a bunch of thoughts below Paul cause it fits the converation there, but my "One more thing" would probably be to seriously consider a frame swap. The engine swap is the tip of the iceburg in making a truck that will act like a modern truck, remember it's also got 60 year old brakes, suspension, steering, etc.
I'm not sure there isn't any more or less fabrication or cost in trying to sit a Power Wagon body on a more modern frame and running gear, then you actually get all the stuff that makes a modern truck a modern truck with the looks you wanted.
Don't get me wrong, it won't fool anyone who knows these trucks, but when most people think of the kind of thing you are talking about, that's really what they want.
Take some measurements and go find a junkyard truck with good bones and a bad body that you can swap onto.
Also understand that you will probably not help the price of the truck long term. It's not a huge selling point that some guy with unknown fabrication skills did all kinds of modifications to the truck and now wants to sell it, especially if it's because you got two years and 5K into it and decided to give up.
