This my help you but I have no experience in the Town Wagon switch. 1 the nob may have a very small set screw that holds it on the shaft. May be covered in dirt and crime. 2 the nob may have a small tin release that's on the back side of the nob that you push towards the nob to release it from the shaft. 3 the nob may be part of the shaft so on the back side of the switch at the top there is a button you push down as you pull the shaft out and it releases the shaft from the switch.
