I don't understand the need for the off-set groove. It would seem the wider area would receive less lubrication although not enough to seize the bearing and oil pressure might be less since there is that narrow side. You might want to contact John B. at Midwest and ask if he has installed these in an engine he uses. You might also want to show to a local engine machinist/builder for an opinion. It's a design I have no experience with nor understand except to minimize oil leakage at the seal side of the bearing.
