I haven't been back to work on the cat yet. Too much work to do in town this week. Will try starting it up and working the shift rails back and forth by hand before putting the tower on. If I can't get it free up, I'll have to pull the cab, seat, and transmission cover. At least I have it towed back and sitting right next to the wrecker so I won't have to do it like Vaughn did up on a mountainside. I'm getting a "new" (even older) cat, as soon as I can find someone to haul it from Whitehall MT to here. The current one spews anti-freeze, motor oil, and hydraulic oil all over the place, and the steering brakes barely work, but it has a heavier blade and I'd rather beat it up on rocks (which is what I was doing when the tranny jammed) and keep the "new" one for slightly easier work, like just pushing dirt and brush.

On the lanterns, I need to give you a couple gallons of "Clear-lite" Exxon synthetic kerosene. I scored a great deal on it after the Y2K crisis didn't happen. It never turns yellow in the lamp bowls or gunks up the wicks, it doesn't make any smell when burning, and you can turn the flame up higher without it smoking, compared to regular kerosene. For some reason, they quit making it, so I'm hoarding what I have, but I'll share a gallon or two with good friends.
