Far as I know from all of my previous research, the earlier RH (hydraulic controlled) transmissions are essentially a 727 with an added overdrive module. I would have to assume that your only real problem would be the output spline count on the OD.
You will have to move the transfer case/transmission cross member back to account for the added length of the overdrive and get driveshafts modified or new ones built.
