This time of year, I don't need a burn permit, but when I do, I get a burn permit number over the phone. And I get it from the local STATE agency who covers the NATIONAL forest. I figure if I plan it right, sufficent humidity, low fire hazard, wind guts under 15 mph, it is nothing but paper work.
