You didn't say what year or mileage it is, but BMW's lose value fairly quickly and parts for them are very expensive. You can bet someone else figured it's not worth fixing. But, they could have been wrong. It happens. But, unless you want an old BMW, you then have to sell it.

I'd look up the Kelly Blue Book value to see if it's worth enough to even consider fixing.

Remember, there may be hidden problems. If you put money into it then find the transmission is bad, you are screwed.

Best bet would be to sell it as a parts car to someone specializing in BMW's. Around here, you can get $350 for it at Pick-A-Part. I'm not sure what paperwork you need, if any. But, they didn't seem to concerned the last one I took in. If you don't have good paperwork though. it's probably not worth spending money on.

He says it needs an air box. He might mean a mass air flow sensor. But, those are expensive. I would power up the car and pull the diagnostic codes and maybe, try to start it. However, don't throw money at it you will never get back.

I think a good radiator would be about an even trade.
