On two occasions, when my '55 ffpw had been parked nose up on a slope, when I started it the engine would attempt to run at full throttle. I immediately killed the ignition.

The first time it happened a few weeks ago when I was pulling some stumps. It only happened once. After I killed the ignition and restarted it, it ran normally while parked on the slope.

Yesterday I was setting the truck in position to use the winch to help guide a tree I was felling. The rear wheels were in a ditch lower than the front and the engine wanted to run away every time I started it. During that time I checked the linkage to the carb and it was all in idle position and freely moving. I know it's not ideal but I ended up using the starter with the tranny in first, ignition off, to ease the rear wheels out of the ditch a few inches at a time. Once the truck was on level ground it started and idle normally.

One thing to add about yesterday's event. The ditch the rear wheels were in was not on the same plane as the front wheels. The right rear wheel was about 8 inches lower than the left rear. When the truck was parked this way there was a notable misalignment of the cab. So much so that the foot control for the starter would slip off the starter, and cab doors and hood were misaligned. So the question is, are the frames supposed to flex on these trucks? Or do I have a weak/bad frame? I have a quite heavy dump bed on the truck but it was empty at the time. Don't know if that is a factor.

There was some repair done to the frame at some point but looks well done. Looks can be deceiving though I know.
