I took my 51 PW out yesterday to make a dump run and hit a couple of stores. I was turning into my neighborhood and got a whiff of oil, which is not normal. I drove the 3 blocks home without any more smells. I parked in the gravel driveway and got out. To my disbelief the side of the hood and cowl were covered in oil. I lifted the hood and there was oil all over the engine, firewall and fenders around the oil filter. Nothing visibly wrong. I started the engine and I saw no leaks but then I noticed the oil pressure was zero. I dumped 4 quarts of oil into the engine and started it again and oil was spraying out of the oil line from the block to the top of the oil filter. Shut it down and looked again only to find a large hole in the oil line.

As best I can tell is that all of the oil was pumped out and sprayed all over the truck it even came through the firewall at the steering column. I did leave a faint oil trail on the street and a large stain in the driveway. I put a temporary patch on the line and parked it. The gauge was showing 40lbs of pressure when I parked it.

Now I need to go to NAPA for a short piece of brake line. It should be a simple fix. Hopefully, there is no internal damage to the engine. Time will tell.
