$500.00 was the value of the car when I was there last, it has probably increased by now. It was cool to see people of all ages out there racing around in battered Volvos and VW's.
We've been campaigning a VW Scirocco for the past few years in the CHUMP and Lemons groups respectively. They are supposed to be $1200.00 cars (safety gear not included)but creative cheating is tolerated if not encouraged. We've only finished two races in that time. Crashes and mechanical usually take us out before the end. That's amateur racing.
