20 years ago when i did a 67 Chevy re-build I found out real fast that the Rockwell 221's were a crappy design. I spent a bunch of money rebuilding one only to find out it's noisy, and poorly designed. I ended up swapping it with a married 205 set-up which is bullet proof except for the 10 spline coupler between the transmission and transfercase which gets loose over time. I think there are parts available to convert the shafts to 32 spline which is better. There is a ton of after market parts available for the 205's to make them better.
