I recently installed what was probably one of the few remaining OEM Dodge filter elements. It was a tight fit too. Dodge evidently wanted the element to seal against the filter canister wall. But, I'm sure they didn't want anyone to have to go to ridiculous lengths to push in the filter.

The bottom line is there is no filter currently available that exactly matches the OEM filter. Some fit better than others.

When I got a filter element from VPW, they said I would have to unwrap the sock and remove some of the filter media to get it to fit. I did that. I don't see any problem doing this as long as you don't remove too much. But, com'on. Can't they do better than that?

If you can only force the filter element 1/4 of the way in, the element is too big. Some people resort to a piece of wood to push in the filter element.
