I still am operating with the original VRY4202A 25 amp 6 volt regulator along with the original GEW4803 Gen. and original coil that came with the truck when I purchased it in 1987. The only maint. I have done on the regulator is juice up the amps a bit at Idle. Love the engineering of the VRY's in which you have screws to adjust the Cut Out, Voltage and Current. On the cheap VRP regulators, you adjust by "Bending" the arms that hold the springs for the adjustment.
