Yes this tree gets plenty of water, and that likely was the downfall. That, and having taken out several other trees like it in the past few years left it standing alone which is like the kiss of death to a big tree. I was recently talking with a guy who has done these for me before. He climbs them, limbing them on the way up, then takes them down in short sections coming back down. His services will no longer be necessary.
