The real early Corvettes in the '50s had a sound of their own. A friend of mine had a muffler shop. He installed a pair of factory corvette mufflers on a '55 Chevy after much measuring and calculating to place the mufflers the correct length from the exhaust manifold and the correct length of tail pipe. The car sounded exactly like a Corvette when he was done.
