things I learned on my one and only unguided elk hunt with my bow: use a hard case for the bow during travel and check the bow by shooting a couple of arrows before going into the woods. several years ago I flew to montana with my bow tomhunt elk, my dad picked me up at the airport and within 3 hours I was halfway up my favorite mountain and crossed a logging road to see a five point bull looking at me at 50 yards. shot all my arrows and then the bull calmly walked away. sights had got bent in travel and I didn't notice. was ggrreat trip all the same. didn't see another elk though. good luck.
