one of the first things you do when you get a vehicle is to get the paperwork straight. Get it registered before you do any serious work. Put it in non-op status if need be, but get it registered. The next guy who buys your unfinished non-running truck will appreciate it :) and the process will be easier, and maybe cheaper, than if you wait five years.
