I see your concern, but if laws were broken then it makes sense

It may seem silly to me to waste the time of law enforcement on old land rovers, but maybe the underlying issue is VINs from older wrecked trucks being used to title newer model trucks. If that is the case I understand the government action.

None of us know the full story. I will save my concerns about government until I know more facts. I worry a lot more about other law enforcement efforts than 40 land rovers. For example here in WI the DMV decided to rescind titles for some military trucks, but the change in statute might have allowed the banning of all military trucks. The way I heard it (I didn't read the actual text) even WWII jeeps might have been illegal to drive as they have a reinforced floor for a gun mount. It took legal action to stop the DMV, but jeeps and other military trucks are still driving around.

Show me a sweeping new law that threatens classic vehicles or an old law being applied differently (this case might qualify, but given they were working off a specific list I'm guessing it was the improper actions of one or two importers) and I'll get worked up.

I view something like this land rover thing like getting a caught speeding. They were just unlucky to be the ones singled out for enforcement. Hopefully the media attention will provide greater transparency into the details and provide a good explanation for these actions. If the seizures weren't lawful I hope the vehicles are returned and the officers involved are reprimanded.

Eric
