The biggest issue i see is why DHS and why the gestapo style seizure? Wouldn't that fall to FBI or maybe local law and wouldn't it make more sense to communicate with the owners first? Seems like DHS has a hand in about everything. Prior to the newer diesel emissions laws I actually thought Europe was stricter on emission than the US (not counting CA). I mostly heard that crash safety was the issue with grey market. I believe we have always had pretty strict crash standards relative to the rest of the world. I have never understood why if the crash safety is disclosed why we can't buy vehicles that don't meet? It is just silly things like the CanAm spyder and the new Polaris 3 wheeler can get around the laws because they are defined as motorcycles? I bet with four wheels the can am would be safer.
