Mechanical winches may be more dangerous in that they are not as easy to stop/control as an electrical winch, especially one with remote control.
Mechanical winches will continue to pull until the shear pin or something else breaks. So, the guy from Legacy may have a point. But, I definitely think it takes away from the looks of the truck to put an electric winch on it. I wonder what he does with the ones he takes off? I's day the major factor in Legacy replacing the mechanical winch is the problem hooking up the PTO to a more modern transmission.
I don't need a winch, so the ones on my trucks are just decoration. I'm just as glad to leave them alone.
