The M37 PTO is for a synchro tranny with spiral cut gears, and I'm pretty sure the PW PTO is for a crashbox tranny with straight-cut gears. I'm amazed at how many PTOs I find that look like they should fit but don't. There are a remarkable number of ways to make them incompatible, not just angled vs straight but gears in different places, different pitch, etc.
