Hi Mike,
Mike's truck is a W300 & there's lots of reasons to run the duals.
#1- They're way, way cooler.
#2- They're way rarer.
#3- They came from Dodge with duals for a good reason...because a single 9.00 x 16 won't carry anywhere near what a W300 is capable of safely hauling...especially one with a flatdeck.
#4- A W300 with 7.50 x 16's looks rediculous...like something an old lady would drive. The 9.00 x 16 just makes it look like the Power Wagons that we all love...well...I do anyway.
SRW trucks are for grandmas & wives & so to be able to own a W300 dually that doesn't look like someone's borrowed tires off a 1/2t truck...I think that's his goal & I can tell you that mine will drive 70mph & haul a 6000lb load in the back & the ride is better loaded than empty!
This is my guess what he's thinking anyway.
My truck has about an inch between the tires...they've never rubbed. There's no rocket science...if they don't rub, you're a-ok.
There's several reasons Dodge didn't install the 9.00 on the dually. The main one is they don't fit unless you either build a new rear axle or you run spacers.
I personally wouldn't do it any other way...as you can see! :)
