The father of the inventor of the grease gun was part owner of the Alemite company. I think they were a die casting company.
When Gulborg Jr. invented the grease gun, he also invented a "button" type device, the fore runner of the zerk fitting to use with the grease gun.
When Gulborg discovered zerk's fitting, which worked better and locked on to the grease gun, he bought the rights from Zerk. Alemite company went on to manufacture the zerk fitting and the well know Alemite grease gun that came with some Dodge trucks.
