Hi Cliff,
A man can install a non embossed tailgate on any second or third series bed & the vinyl decals are even available from Mopar because they were used on the 69 and newer 3rd series beds.
There were no non embossed tailgates available in 1952. They were either embossed Dodge or Fargo...all of them.
I'll look for a dealer pic but you can trust me :)
